Leicestershire-born Katie Jones has been on a wine journey filled with difficulty and success. Last year, she tragically lost her vigneron husband, Jean Marc, with whom she'd founded Languedoc estate Domaine Jones in 2009, based in a former train shed near the village of Tuchan. They married in 2015, two years after vandals had emptied her entire year's vintage down the drain!
Despite this setback and the strenuous demands of looking after a 12-hectare spread of sloping vineyards buffeted by the Tramontane wind and requiring mostly hand-harvesting, the wines have continued to win many international awards and new fans, particularly in the UK.
Focusing on low yields and high quality, Katie only grows traditional grape varieties, some of them extremely rare and her wines have acquired quite a cult following. However, her continuing success may not have been possible without funding from 2,500 Naked Wines 'Angels' who came to her aid, raising over £200k in just 48 hours, after vandals struck in 2013.
Naked Wines champions talented independent winemakers around the world and last year received the International Wine Challenge (IWC)'s prestigious Online Wine Retailer of the Year award. Members, called Angels, pay monthly into an account, enabling them to buy wines from the company's impressive portfolio, whenever they want. The money raised by this method funds production costs for the winemakers. This means that they can offer their wines to customers through the online portal at a reduced cost.

As a fitting tribute to Katie's late husband, Naked Wines is once again stocking this delicious rosé. It's a 12.5% ABV blend of Carignan and Muscat, bursting with vibrant, fresh, southern France sunshine and fruit! It's also a Bronze Medal winner at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) 2022.
Stop Press: Katie Jones has just been voted Naked Wines Winemaker of the Year 2022, receiving tens of thousands of votes (60% of the total)!!!
Appearance: Medium pale salmon pink.
Nose: Aromatic and floral like a garden of wisteria flowers with notes of white currant, wild strawberry and cantaloupe melon.
Palate: A fruity burst of redcurrants, red berries and citrus with a juicy touch of kiwi fruit and elderflower cordial.
Food match: Great for vegetarian dishes, including asparagus quiche and feta salads, or with Asian sweet and sour flavours, light aperitifs or snacks and for drinking very happily on its own!
The 'Angel price' for this wine is £10.99, which Naked Wines estimates as £2 cheaper than the closest equivalent on the market today.
We might not have any bright summer days at the moment, but rosés are for all-year-round drinking and this one could be that perfect Valentines Day ❤️ tipple with a warming kiss of summer in your glass!
